CREATING RESONANCE FLUTE RETREAT
September 19-22, 2019

A weekend of learning and sharing through masterclasses and individual sessions with a focus on “Finding flute resonance through body, mind, breath, release and relationships”

‘CREATING RESONANCE’
the secret of using breath to produce your sound

Taking place at the Rochester Folk Art Guild in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York.

Join flutists of all levels guided by Carol Wincenc,
Louis Papachristos, and Paul Schliffer with Russell Hall: ‘Feldenkrais for Flutists’, Casey Sokol: ‘Approaching Improvisation’ and Annie Schliffer: ‘Yoga with Awareness’

What is the EXACT quality of the sound I wish to make? Where does it come from?
What is the key to producing my unique sound and using it to create musical meaning?
How can we work effectively to improve technique? What obstacles need to be overcome?
What happens when I free myself from the printed score and trust my inner musicality?
Can a new sensitivity and awareness lead to discovering the body as an instrument?

Explore these and many other questions for a weekend of opening, relaxation and learning.

Beginning with dinner Thursday evening and ending Sunday afternoon, days will include yoga, delicious meals, group and individual lessons, intro to ‘Feldenkrais for Flutists’ and a special work with Improvisation, with and without the flute. You will also have time to explore the unique 50 year old Rochester Folk Art Guild community setting, including craft studios, pond, woods and fields. Most group sessions will be held in the Guild’s Meeting Hall, an inspiring sacred space and heart of Guild since 1973.
