Table Mat 4
Handwoven With 100% cotton warp and 100% wool weft. A set of four make beautiful dining placemats. Individually, they can be used as table rugs on a nightstand or end table to give a space an earthy, cozy feel.
They were woven using techniques inspired by traditional Scandinavian Krokbragd weaving. This is a Norwegian word (pronounced croak-brahg) meaning "curved lines" and comes from the small, stepped patterns of the Krokbragd fabric. It is a painstaking process to create the intricate designs, requiring 2 or 3 passes of weft to create each horizontal row of the pattern. It is weft-faced, meaning that only the weft (horizontal yarn) is visible and the warp is hidden except for the fringes. These weft-faced pieces were woven together using the same color palette, but the designs and patterns in each piece are completely unique. Shades of cornflower, navy, gray-blue, ochre, sienna, sage and leaf green evoke the landscape of the Folk Art Guild.
