Join us Sunday, June 22nd, at 2:00 PM for a captivating talk by Dr. Bruce Gilman, Professor Emeritus at Finger Lakes Community College and Curator of the Finger Lakes Herbarium. Dr. Gilman will explore the ancient geological forces that shaped our region—how glaciers carved the land, formed the deep Finger Lakes, and influenced the area’s earliest ecosystems.
This free program is part of Lecture on the Lawn, our summer-to-fall Sunday series that brings artists, performers, and thought leaders to the scenic grounds of the Rochester Folk Art Guild. Each gathering offers a chance to connect, reflect, and enjoy creative ideas in community.
Lectures are held rain or shine (indoor space is available if needed) and typically last one to two hours, including time for audience conversation. Wooden benches and folding chairs are available, but guests are welcome to bring their own chairs or blankets for added comfort.
After the program, you’re invited to browse handcrafted work in the East Hill Gallery and take a guided tour of the Guild campus.
Lecture on the Lawn is made possible through the generous support of the Rochester Area Community Foundation, Yates County Tourism Advisory Committee, New York State Council on the Arts, and Mid-Atlantic Arts.
All events are free and open to the public—donations are always appreciated to support future programming.
