Classes & Events
The Folk Art Guild offers year-round classes and workshops in traditional crafts, taught by accomplished visiting artists and the Guild's resident craftspeople. From introductory classes to intensive multi-day workshops, our educational programs offer opportunities for hands-on learning, individual instruction, and sustained study.
Our public programs extend beyond the craft studios to include lectures, concerts, theater, and seasonal events. Many of these programs are free and open to the public, welcoming visitors of all ages to enjoy the arts and spend time at the Guild.
East Hill Gallery
East Hill Gallery features finely crafted, functional work from the studios of the Rochester Folk Art Guild. The work reflects decades of skill, material knowledge, and daily practice across our community.
You’ll find pottery, woodworking, fiber, clothing, and other pieces made to be used and lived with.
The gallery is located on our campus in Middlesex, NY and is open weekends from May through October. Hours are Saturdays 11am–5pm and Sundays 1pm–5pm.
We also host occasional studio sales, and private visits can be arranged by appointment.

Our Story
Founded in 1957 under the guidance of Louise March, the Rochester Folk Art Guild began with a small group exploring inner development through craft and practical work. In 1967, the Guild moved to East Hill Farm, where members established craft studios, gardens, orchards, and spaces for education and community life.
Over the decades, the Guild has become known for fine craftsmanship and its dedication to teaching traditional skills. Today, we continue to support generations of craftspeople through workshops, apprenticeships, and long-term study, while remaining connected to an international network studying the teachings of G. I. Gurdjieff.
