Join us for an afternoon of poetry, presence, and shared reflection as four celebrated poets gather on the lawn at East Hill Gallery to read from their work:
Mary Gilliland – Cornell University
Steve Lewandowski – Rushville
Peter Fortunato – Ithaca College
Albert Abonado – Oswego University
This free event is part of Lecture on the Lawn, our seasonal Sunday series that brings artists, performers, and thinkers to the scenic grounds of the Rochester Folk Art Guild. Each gathering invites us to slow down, listen deeply, and connect through shared creative experience.
The program will last about an hour and include time for informal conversation with the poets. Wooden benches and folding chairs are provided, but guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for extra comfort. In case of rain, we’ll move indoors.
After the reading, guests are welcome to explore the Guild’s handcrafted offerings in East Hill Gallery or join a guided walk through our artist community and studios.
Lecture on the Lawn is made possible through support from the Rochester Area Community Foundation, Yates County Tourism Advisory Committee, New York State Council on the Arts, and Mid-Atlantic Arts.
All are welcome—no tickets required. Donations are gratefully accepted to support future programs.
