May: Blooms, Brooms, and Flutes
Tree peonies in bloom outside the Hall
Spring has fully arrived here at the Guild, and with East Hill Gallery now open for the season, the campus is moving into its busiest time of year. Over the past few weeks we’ve welcomed visitors back to the gallery, hosted a sold out broom making workshop, gathered for our first Lecture on the Lawn program of the season, and wrapped up our exhibition at the Rochester Public Library celebrating seventy years of craft and community.

Right now, the Hall and grounds are full of music as students and faculty gather for the ninth annual Creating Resonance Flute Week led by Carol Wincenc. Join us two free performances by the group this weekend, Friday May 29th at 7:30pm and Saturday, May 30th at 3:00pm.
Don’t Miss: Two Free Flute Concerts
Friday, May 29 at 7:30 pm
Saturday, May 30 at 3:00 pm
Join us for two free performances closing the 9th annual Creating Resonance Flute Week led by Carol Wincenc. Each concert features different music performed by twenty-three talented students and faculty musicians from around the world. All are welcome.
With workshops, concerts, classes, and public programs continuing through the summer, there is a great deal ahead, and we’re grateful for all of the energy and support that keeps this place active and growing.
This month we wrapped up The Rochester Folk Art Guild: Celebrating Seven Decades of Craft and Community, our exhibition at the Rochester Public Library. Thank you to everyone who came out to see the show, attended the opening events, shared stories, and spent time with the work. It was meaningful for us to reflect on the Guild’s history and to introduce many new visitors to the community and craftspeople who make this place what it is today.
If you missed the exhibition, the short film created for the show is now available to watch on our YouTube page. We also hope to continue sharing pieces of the exhibition and archive in different ways moving forward.

Coming Soon: The Folk Art Guild Online Store
We’re excited to share that the Folk Art Guild online store officially launches this June. The shop will remain open year-round and will feature a rotating selection of handmade work and Guild goods from our studios, alongside special seasonal Online Studio Sales with expanded offerings available for a limited time.
Our first Online Studio Sale runs June 10–July 10 and will include newly made pottery, weaving, woodworking, sewing, prints, books, posters, CDs, gift cards, and more.
For many years, handmade objects from the Guild have traveled outward through visitors, workshops, and East Hill Gallery. This new online shop creates a way for people to stay connected to the work happening here throughout the year, even from a distance.
Additional online sales are already planned for October and the holiday season. More information and shop links will be shared soon through our website, newsletter, and social media.
Join us for upcoming programs and events!
Summer is underway at the Guild, and there is much more still to come. We hope to see you here this season.
