Osage Orange Wood Shavings (for natural dyeing)

from $15.00

Produced as a byproduct of woodworking in the Rochester Folk Art Guild woodshop, these Osage orange wood shavings are a favorite among natural dyers. We value this remarkable wood for both its beauty and utility, and we are pleased to make use of every part of the material.

Osage orange can produce a variety of colors, from vibrant yellows to shades of green, depending on the fiber, mordant, and dye process used.

Each bag includes dye instructions and a brief history card. Larger bulk orders can be made upon request.

We sell these same shavings to well-known natural dye suppliers and dye companies throughout North America.

Please note: Yarn is pictured to demonstrate possible dye results and is not included in your order.
