Waving April Goodbye
The East Hill players put a scene from Midsummer Night’s Dream during our Easter celebration
There are many high points to tell about, as we leave this fast-moving month!
Easter brought a full house, with 74 people gathered around the tables for breakfast, including Portuguese and Finnish breads made in our kitchens. Afterwards, we headed outside for piñatas and a performance from the East Hill Players, who staged a scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream under Paul’s direction.

Out in the orchard, pruning wrapped up and a recent grafting workshop brought people into the work of the season. A cold snap came through at a delicate moment for the apples, as the buds entered the tender “pink” stage, so we’ll see how things unfold. Plums and pears are in bloom now, holding steady.
The deer fence around the main garden has been installed. Now the challenge is to protect the vegetables from little critters, woodchucks, rabbits, chipmunks that find their way through.

More than fifty people joined us at the Central Library in Rochester for Meet the Craftspeople, Meet the Community, part of our exhibition marking seven decades of work at the Guild. It was a full afternoon of conversation, reflection, and shared history, with voices from across the community. You can access the talks from the event on our YouTube channel.
The exhibit continues until May 23rd.
